The Cancun Center:
A New Beginning.
What was formerly known as the Cancún
Convention Center has undergone substantial
changes and improvements during the past six
months and with those changes also has come
a new name: The Cancún Center –
Conventions & Exhibitions. All of this has
come about because of the infusion of private
capital provided by Mr. Isaac Hamui and his
group of investors.
Guillermo Martínez, the new Managing
Director of the Cancún Center, made
the announcement in Cancún while naming
the new management team that will be responsible
for all of the building’s operations.
He also set some ambitious goals. Improvements
include incorporating two lower floors providing
both meeting and exhibition space, effectively
doubling the building’s capacity. Cancún
Center now offers 75,320 sq. ft. of convention
area and 77,372 sq ft. of exhibition space.
The convention area comprises 13 column-free
halls, divisible into 37 independent rooms
each with an individual sound system. Cancún
Center also features four additional convention
halls, a business center, a Deli Garden and
a Snack Bar.
“Our intention is to make this the
finest meeting facility in all of the Caribbean
and Latin America,” Martínez
said. “We now can accommodate, easily,
more than seven thousand participants in group
events and expect to be able to improve on
that figure as well. We are centrally located
within walking distance of 4,700 luxury hotel
rooms, just 20 minutes away from Cancún
International Airport, the most important
such facility in México and the third
busiest in all of Latin America providing
all of the airlift capacity required by meeting
attendees and our service providers offer
the very latest in technology and equipment.
Today’s appointments are just the start
of our aggressive promotional campaign. Our
strategy includes 5 sales directors each addressing
a specific market. Our new Executive Director,
César Perdomo, is a highly qualified
and experienced professional as are all of
the members of our management team. Clearly
this marks a new beginning for the Cancún
Center – Conventions and Exhibitions,
a very promising new beginning,” Martínez
concluded.
